In-Transit Plates

Pennsylvania In-transit tags provide you with a temporary 60 day registration and license tag allowing you to drive your vehicle back to your home state to complete your State’s title and registration.

The out of state buyer of the vehicle must bring in the following:

The vehicle title for the vehicle you purchased.

Valid out of state drivers license or valid out of state ID card.

Current automobile insurance card or declarations page for the purchased vehicle.

The PA Title will be executed, signed and notarized by the agent. The original title will be returned to the buyer. (The seller will need to be present with valid ID to sign the title.)

An In-transit temporary plate will be issued along with a temporary registration card.

Pennsylvania sales tax will NOT be charged. Sales tax will be paid in your home state.

There will be fees for the In-transit plate, registration card, digital transaction fee, and agent fees.
